Allow us to introduce 6' Shelley and 5'9" Katy Armorgie, a tall mother and daughter duo with a lovely story. We recently joined them for a very special day: a joint party to celebrate Katy’s 18th birthday and Shelley’s 25th wedding anniversary to husband Colin. We couldn’t resist outfitting them in dresses and shoes from our new autumn collection. And raising a glass (or three)…
I’m really very proud of Katy and of our family. Today is a very special day for us.
We love a tall story… and the Armorgie family is definitely that. Colin is the tallest at 6’5”, while sons Jack (22) and Harry (20) are both 6’4”.
“When they stand straight, mind!" Shelley teases.
Their story begins back in 1987 when Shelley and Colin met and fell in love. After 3 years of dating, they became Mr. and Mrs. Armorgie. Jack was born three years later, Harry in 1995 and along came Katy in 1997.
We were unintentionally very organised and had the children in two year intervals!
Shelley works as student support at a secondary school, and has been a lovely and loyal customer of Long Tall Sally for years. Shelley even opted for the same Long Tall Sally dress to wear to the school prom; two years in a row. “Well it’s different children every year, so I got away with it!” she says.
I try to run three or four times a week. I’ve run a few half marathons and am gearing up for Bristol to Bath in October for the National Autistic Society.
When asked what her go-to style is, Shelley says, “I like clean and classic best; being able to quickly throw together an outfit but still look like I’ve made an effort!"
And Katy? She keeps it minimal, always opting for darker colours.
You can’t go wrong with a leather jacket and a good pair of skinny jeans!
Having just completed her A-levels, Katy is working part-time at Sainsbury’s over the summer whilst she anxiously awaits her exam results (fingers and toes crossed for you Katy!) She hopes to go to Swansea University this September to study Classic Civilisation with Egyptology.
She just fancies herself as Indiana Jones really!
The party took place at the Armorgie family home, with the sun shining gloriously and the Prosecco flowing freely.
Colin fired up the barbie - beer and tongs in hand. (“Pretending he’s in charge!” says Shelley)
