9 Workout Struggles Every Tall Girl Can Relate To

 

Life as a tall girl has major benefits, as us six-footers know only too well. Sometimes though, let’s face it, those gorgeous long legs can get in the way. If you’re a tall girl who loves working out, you’ll relate to these….



1. YOU MUST BE GOOD AT...

Basketball, volleyball, you name it. Tall girls are burdened with expectations that we MUST be good at sports. As it turns out, being tall doesn't = hand-eye coordination. Keep that in mind next time you're waving us into the basketball court upon entering the gym.



2. ADJUSTING ALL THE GYM EQUIPMENT

Heads to gym. Adjusts machines. Workout done. Yup, sometimes it can feel like a full workout simply adjusting the machines to fit your tall frame. And there's nothing worse than hitting your knees while trying to cycle.



3. UNWINDING AT YOGA

"...but how can I relax when my feet are off the mat?" Beyond the too-short mat, there's also the trick of reaching your toes. This and arriving at the right time to casually slide in at the back of the class. Yes, we have permanent front-row FOMO but with the length of our stretches, no one else will ever see.

And by fitting in, we mean literally fitting in. Especially in kickboxing class. The regulars know to leave a bit of extra space around you, but unsuspecting newbies who stand too close could be in for a surprise. Nothing beats spending the whole class struggling to not kick the person in front.



5. THE DEEP END SIMPLY ISN'T THAT DEEP

Water aerobics isn’t really aerobics. Treading water doesn’t feel like much of a challenge when you can get away with slyly standing on the floor. On the other hand, synchronizing these long limbs? Pretty tough.



6. EQUIPMENT FANS = NO CHILL

Machine fans are always set to blow under your head, so you never feel the breeze when you work out. Just a little chest draft, which doesn’t really help anyone. The closest we get to a cool face is from the ceiling fans when we’re running on the treadmill.



7. SQUATS, PUSHUPS AND LUNGES. SO. FAR. AWAY.

Yes, it’s meant to be testing. Yes, it’s supposed to hurt. We know that. But remember this, squatting as a tall girl is A MUCH LONGER WAY DOWN, PEOPLE.
