A day in the life of a designer..

Southern Comfort

Well I am back from Atlanta and my southern wedding – the weather was awful but the bride looked lovely and the venue was really gorgeous and bedecked with lilies and hydrangeas.

After the wedding we split in our convertible and fuelled by a heavy southern breakfast made for the hills. We spent two days in the Appalachian mountains (Were they filmed “Deliverance”) and then went walking by waterfalls in 3 inches of snow surrounded by the most beautiful autumn leaves. We drove across to South Carolina and to Charleston, a truly delightful town with Christmas decorations everywhere.  The town itself was full of history with fabulous graveyards and evening ghost tours.

From Charleston we travelled out to the swamps and visited a couple of plantations and then drove South back into Georgia and through to Savannah.  Another lovely town filled with history and charm (Have a read of John Berendt’s ‘Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil’)

The other great thing that Savannah had going for it was the food, we indulged ourselves in the Griffon Tea Rooms with vast quantities of tea and pecan pie. However now I am back in the UK and a dress size bigger!

Don’t worry I will work that off doing some high speed sale shopping and I promise not to design too many “Gone with the wind” style outfits this season!

Carol
