At JFK airport in New York City there's an Air train that runs from the terminals to the city's subway system. It's a needlessly complex way to get around the city, but the subway system came before the airport so they didn't run a train line all the way to the terminals. The only redeeming feature of this short, $5 ride is the last stop before getting to Jamaica station. Lining the ground near the tracks are single flip-flops that people have lost while making a mad dash to get on or off the train. The tracks are sealed off from the station by sliding glass doors, so when you lose a flip-flop there's no retrieving it. Whenever I got to that station (While visiting a friend there recently), I always hoped to see someone standing there with only one sandal, rifling through their luggage looking for a pair of shoes or accepting their fate and walking off the subway with one bare foot.
As we make this transition from Summer to Fall fashion at Long Tall Sally, try not to lose your flip flops along the way! Oh yes, we will be running to catch all of their incredible brand new collection which is very cool- And finally 2 choices of leather jackets - SCORE!! This is clothing that we don't need to fuss with just live easy in.
You might also see aerodynamic balances, geometrical shapes, interesting surfaces and unexpected textures that are emphasized in their big, bold and very black designs. Some pieces are androgynous, like the 'boyfriend jacket' and the new leather jackets like the new “Tracy” style which I've just ordered! The stark colour palette Long Tall Sally is offering also permits an abundance of creative mixing and matching to make a wardrobe stretch to its limits.
Minimalists, the tall gorgeous ones of course, ignore obvious trends instead marching to our own loud and dramatic beat! Walk tall and proud babes!

The Tall Chicks Guide to Style:
Q: What is the easiest way to be stylish, especially on a budget?
A: Go to stores that offer amazing value - Long Tall Sally! When you shop here, you not only get the trends but you also find that they are within your budget. For instance, you now can buy 3 items and get the fourth item FREE! But tall style is also about feeling comfortable whatever you decide to wear. I personally find in the summer the easiest and most comfortable pieces are summer dresses. Look great, feel comfortable without sacrificing style! What's awesome is, as a taller babe, we can wear any length in dresses and skirts! I just bought the Kiti Dress and wowee is this one ever a STUNNER! ...Another way to be stylish but still watch your budget is to splurge on key pieces but saving on items with a limited lifespan, like check out the new Rock and Republic jeans! Thank you for the extra length Long Tall Sally, these jeans definitely ROCK! So you splurge here but save on a chic top. Try the Bergamo blouse in black. Don't forget to work with new ways of wearing your clothes; try rolling your new Rocks up, YES you can wear them like this tall ladies, don't forget - You can wear anything!!
Q: How Should You Work Trends Into Your Wardrobe?
A: Mix high and low (No pun intended). Spend money on your jeans but save on your trendy shoes, like Converse. Try the Malawi Hat with your new Rocks!
Q: What Is Your Most Versatile Piece?
A: I have just received and love my new Sicily and Sardinia Trousers. Perfect, versatile pieces I can dress up for the office or wear out for the evening. I love their simplistic flattering cuts and their extremely long lengths, especially me being 6'2!!
Q: What's Your Shopping Strategy?
A: Pick a new jacket, either go for the classic trench - every girl's closet needs one - or for a suit jacket. A good one to try that's not too fussy is the Corsica jacket. What's great about it is you can pair it with your dressed up trousers or your new Rocks for a more casual look....Don't deprive yourself of a little retail therapy, even when times are tough. Shop with a purpose, take advantage of sales and watch Long Tall Sally's website as sales change monthly. Calculate the cost-per-wear ratio to determine where to put your money. If you’re a live-in-your-jeans kind of gal like me, then say heck YES to splurging on your new pair of Rock and Republic jeans! (I think you have to hurry though, looks like they are selling out again!)
Q: What Are Your Top 3 Picks Right Now?
A: Kiti Dress, Rock and Republic jeans, Corsica Trouser.

One of my friends sends me e-mails every couple days to let me know that he's posted new items to his blog. It's like, hey man, the whole point of having a blog is so that you don't have to e-mail me with news all the time. It makes it easier to ignore what's going on with you in one convenient place. I've read that an average blog gets one reader, which makes sense. After all, some blogs have hundreds of thousands of readers, so there must be hundreds of thousands of blogs with no readers.
Now that you've discovered my blog; my vast audience of one; let's discover what's new at Long Tall Sally. Check out their shoes - juicy hues, luxe leather and refined design detailing combine for a sexy, stylish pop that's anything but flat. I'm digging on the 'Whisper wedge' in bold red. Another must have for this season is the newest fashion craze called dip dying. For this, you must order the Kiti dress depicting the various depths of the ocean. Ah, thoughts of Italy - you must also grab for the everyday use of is the Positano shrug which comes in various colours. You always are looking for that little bit of arm coverage because you're a little chilled on those nights spent outside hanging out with friends. What's great about this shrug is it has LONG sleeves!
Till next week ladies...

Introducing our new resident blogger Susanne Khajuria. At 6”2 Susanne know the difficulties of finding clothes that look great and actually fit her tall frame. A self confessed fashionista, she decided to leave a career in teaching and act on her dream of creating Tall Like Me, a company proud to offer tall women clothing that suits there lifestyle and environment.
Follow Susanne's blog as she shares all her tall stories and tips, all the way from Toronto.
Like the rest of us, I've always been considered tall. My annual designation of top middle row in class photos will forever be my earliest memory of my obvious height difference to my peers - sometimes even my teachers. Sure, sports came naturally to me. And yes the basketball coach didn't leave me alone until I reluctantly said yes to accepting position of forward. I hated playing basketball.
Ah, my teen years. The worst, my awkward period of my life. Dating was nonexistent, I mean how do the boys know you exist when you always find the seat at the back corner of every class and hide in the library to eat your lunch? Anything to not be noticed as my height was extremely odd. I wasn't the short, cute cheerleader type that was ever so popular. Quite the contrary, I was tall and super lean with the poorest self image. I hated myself because of my height. My height was the single cause of my self-degradation which consumed my entire teenage existence.
Things brightened for me once I entered university. No more the self-personified ugly tall duckling but now viewed as the tall blonde model the boys wanted to be with and the girl that other girls envied. All because of my height. And yes, unfortunately I still continued to play basketball.
After acquiring my honour's degree in biological/anthropological science and then my master's in primary/junior science I began my elementary teaching career.
One day my husband and I were driving home from yet another unsuccessful mall shopping trip meant for me which left me crying in frustration " why can't they make cool clothing for tall people?!" To which my husband replied so why don't you open your own store? This was the seed that began to grow into my opening my clothing store in Ontario, Canada called Tall Like Me.
Finally, finally I had found my calling! Finally I had found my niche and reason for being on this planet! The store was an instant success as I quite literally poured my entire being into it.
At 6'2, I completely understand the ups and downs of being a tall person. My height crippled me for years but because of it, I now the strong, woman I am today - proud of her height. I am now at peace with myself.
My store has recently closed which brings me to you - happy to join with the Long Tall Sally crew. I live just outside of Toronto, Ontario, Canada and excited to bring my perspective this side of the pond.

A day in the life of a designer..
Last week I went to see “The 39 Steps” at the Criterion theatre. It was a special offer of course; I’ve always had an eye for a bargain. (A two course dinner at the Criterion Brasserie plus tickets for the theatre at a reduced price)
The Criterion brasserie has a stunning ceiling, rather dishy waiters….And the foods not bad either!
However, if anyone has ever told you that I am quite cool, they really don’t know me! I finished my food and got up to leave and went flying down the steps in the middle of the restaurant despite wearing flat shoes. Glasses and handbag everywhere- As you can see I’ll do anything to attract the attention of a nice young waiter!
The Criterion Theatre is one of those ‘underground gem’s’ that you find in London – like the Savoy. I was initially a little dubious about the play as it only had a cast of four and very few props and I just couldn’t see how it was going to work. But I have to say the critics were right it was absolutely brilliant. The audience roared with laughter and gasped with excitement in all the right places and there was a fabulous tweed suit on stage! What more can you ask for?
This led me to thinking that perhaps less is more and perhaps it was about time that I applied this theory to my wardrobe. I should charity shop all those things that I only wear once every six months and then when I do wear them I think ‘Oh that’s why I don’t wear this very often – I look really awful in it’ – and then I forget until I wear it again six months later! So I am going to do the intelligent thing and base my wardrobe around a few key items…..
It sounds a good theory but it might take me more than a few hours with a bin bag to solve this mystery…

Tis the season to be jolly
So Christmas is nearly here- Ahhh!
I can’t believe it, where has this year gone? I can’t even go into my local shop without being dazzled by fairy lights and Santa Clause wrapping paper and it’s only early November.
I do love the festive period though parties, drinks by the fireplace, Grandma coming over for a quick Christmas sherry and repeatedly telling me: “My, haven’t you, grown!” .She still can’t quite come to terms with the fact I’m so tall!
And my favourite bit Christmas dinner! I just love turkey with all the trimmings and can’t help but over indulge. You must know the feeling,When you’ve eaten too much festive food and now your favourite jeans feel like they’ve been sprayed on. It’s definitely time to renew that gym membership!
I’ve been rushed off my feet at Long Tall Sally; customers have been going crazy for the new range. With such a variety of new products including essential suiting, brilliant basics and gorgeous new party wear (Which really is good enough to eat) there’s so much choice!
The stores Christmas party is only a few weeks away, this got me thinking, what am I going to wear?? As you know, being a taller lady it can sometimes be a little tricky picking up outfits from the high street. Trawling the shops for those extra few inches can be so frustrating. That’s why Long Tall Sally is my saviour!
I’m always in trousers, so I’ve decided this year to get my long legs out and party in style. So, with this in mind I went on a mammoth trying on session. Yes, I’m a Gemini indecisiveness is my middle name! But eventually I got there, I decided on the Ingrid beaded tunic- A sultry grey tunic that is oh so pretty! It will be perfect for all the up and coming Christmas parties and can be worn with either tights and a glitzy clutch for party perfection or with jeans for understated glamour.
Now I’m really ready to embrace the party season, hopefully I will get a few kisses under the mistletoe- From Mike of course!
